After reading a post from someone saying they applied vegetable oil to the
tips of ears of corn to prevented corn worms I decided to try an
experiment
using Pam cooking spray. I put a shot of it on the tips of about half my
corn and marked the developing ears & stalks with a permanent red marker
so
I could identify them later. It has worked quite well even though we have
had an unusual amount of heavy rain. The ears I sprayed with the Pam have
had no corm worms. Several of the others without the Pam had the worms. The
Pam did turn the corm silk dark but had no effect on the corn or it's
development. If anyone else decides to give this a try please post your
results.
