Fencing question

by jplasater@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jack) Feb 18, 2007 at 06:31 PM

I am fencing in a pasture for my horses. I have 6" corner and brace
posts in the ground cemented to a depth of about 3 feet. My brace
post is about 6' from the corner posts and I have notched and fitted
the 3" horizontal brace between the corner and brace posts. I have
noticed in other fences that the horizontal brace sometimes comes out
of the notches and falls out. What is the best way to attach the
horizontal brace to the notches so that it stays in place? I have
considered driving a 5" pole barn nail at an angle through the
horizontal brace into the vertical posts so that it will stay in
place. Is that a good idea?
