I don't think Al is an issue, but just to be clear on one point.  The 
insides of soda and beer cans is *painted* with a coating to prevent the 
beverage from touching the Al.

My brother, who works for one of the largest Al can manufacturers in the 
world tells me it isn't because Al is dangerous, it's to avoid the Al from

affecting the taste.

P.S.  And a neighbor that is a VP of Novelus has shown me how the 'paint'
is 
burned off of recycled cans before being put in the melter for recycling.
