Re: Helpful tips on lifting hive bodies?

by kwh <kellie@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 8, 2007 at 06:43 AM

I have two concerns about not accessing them at this point:
One: I'd like to get down to the bottom hive body to make sure it's
loaded and the activity looks healthy.
Two: I use fall medications which require accessing inbetween the two
bodies and this fall I'm using a different apistan-related product
that will require putting a frame(not a foundation frame, a frame the
same size as the body perimeter to create small space) inbetween the
two bodies to allow for height for the meds so I'll have to lift that
top body somehow.

By the way - inbetween inspections this summer, my bees seem to have
drawn comb connecting the frames in the hive bodies together and along
the sides of the body - should I worry about this and try and cut
straight down through it with my hive tool? Or is it best to just
leave it?

Thanks again!
