I'm a 70 year old beekeeper with much the same problems, but I go
about it another way. I keep a spare empty deep super handy and set in
on the upturned hive cover and transfer half of the frames into it, so
I can then lift the loaded deep super, do what I need to, and then
reassemble the hive as it was when I began.
After a few cranks at doing this, it goes prettyfast, the bees don't
pay much attention to what's going on, and my knees and back aren't
reminding me I'm no longer young while in bed at night.
It's a lot easier when you're wearing a full body bee suit and the
temperature is above 90F. That suit heats up pretty fast when you're
struggling with heavy weight.
