That's because you're an American and we don't use them.

Commercial frames are closer in size to American Langstroth frames anyway
they are, as you've intimated, larger than national frames. You can't cut
down the frames to fit the national hive box you can however add a strip
of
wood to the bottom of the national to acquire the necessary height.

p.s. I kept bees at The Narth [nr. Monmouth] for three years. I used
national boxes, very nice honey from apple hawthorn and white clover.
