Re: Commercial Nuc and National Hive

Don't do it Steve, you can't be scraping bees off their brood combs. Why=

not buy a commercial size box and fill it out with commercial frames and
foundation to go with the nuc you were given. [you can get your money bac=
k]

If you want them in a national hive wait until the bees have built up the=

commercial box. There will also be at this point time to *****s the value=
 of
your queen. If she has filled the commercial box to a crowded healthy
looking state make from wood a transitional adapter [I hope you like work=
ing
with wood] and put the national box containing ten frames with fresh
foundation on top of the commercial box like adding a super. If there's a=

good nectar flow on they will move up and start rapidly making comb.

After they've developed all the national frames into comb and there's sto=
res
brood and newly laid eggs present [eggs should be laying over in the cell=
s
not standing up] remove the national box to a new site. It doesn't matter=
 if
the queen was in the national or not with the new eggs present a new quee=
n
will be assured.

After that continue to use the commercial box for fast comb development a=
nd
new hive creation in national sized boxes or you could easily sell the
commercial sized hive for big =E2=82=ACuros to someone using that equipme=
nt.

So..you got bees into your national hive and you made money too, that's v=
ery
American Steve.

Beekeepers are like saints, they're born not made. Keep this in mind if y=
our
motives for keeping bees are anything other than a vague desire that won'=
t
go away.
