Greetings and Salutations...
     Just ran across this thread, and, if the need is still there...
	There are many alternative tools to the Microsoft ones (which,
while simplistic and easy to use, are not the best in the world).

	For example, one can download the Palm Desktop
(www.palmone.com)  and use that.  There is no need to have a Palm
pilot to use it, either...although it can be pretty handy to have.

	There is a great package called OpenOffice that is a drop-in
replacement for Microsoft Office (www.openoffice.org).   It is free to
use, and has many, many functions and strengths.   By the by...it can
read and write MS WORD do***ents, too.

	There is a package called "NoteTab" that is a more powerful
and flexible alternative to NotePad.   There is a free version, but,
also has licensed versions that are more powerful.

	I really like to keep notes like this on the computer,
as it is a lot harder for me to lose a computer than it is to lose
a binder of notes!
